Last year I helped a buddy with pre-algebra at lunch — just walking him through what tripped me up the year before. A few weeks in, he went from a C- to a B+. That wasn't really about me being smart. It was about me just having been there.
So I built kiteHouse: peer tutors who recently aced what your kid is learning right now. We talk like students because we are students — and parents get a clear update after every session, no guesswork.
Here's how it actually runs day to day: I've tutored one student so far, and every session starts the same way — a welcome, a quick check-in on how they're doing, then we go over what we're covering before jumping into a structured plan for the hour. I started kiteHouse about three months ago, and I've learned a huge amount about tutoring since then.
